UTM STUDENT PARTICIPATES IN «LEAN CHALLENGE» PROJECT.
The student from the Technological University of Matamoros, Nahum Cruz, from the Mechatronics career, participated in the project carried out by the company Lineage Power Matamoros, S.A. de C.V., It was called «Lean Challenge», having an outstanding participation.
Lean Challenge is a contest for university students based on a production efficiency methodology called Lean Manufacturing (or «lean» or «defect-free» manufacturing). Its essential concept is that «everything can be improved» at every step of the manufacturing process.
Twenty teams participated in the event, which was located in different parts of Mexico, including Nogales, Saltillo, Apodaca, among others.
Three different schools from the region were represented in Matamoros: University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Tecnológico de Matamoros and Universidad Tecnológica de Matamoros.
«The project consisted of increasing the productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of a randomly assigned area. The project lasted 6 weeks and covered several specific points to attack, mine was the waste of time in the change model (Change over time),» said the young student.
